My two adorable cats—Maple (Bengal) & Millie (tabby) <3
Jazmin Gallegos is a local—born and raised—Salt Lake City local who has always had a passion for art. She graduated from the University of Utah with a BFA in Art Teaching, Painting and Drawing. Originally an oil painter, she has since discovered her passion and love for books arts including bookbinding, papermaking and letterpress printmaking. She started making books in the style of Ethiopian and Coptic Binding in 2019 and made so many for fun that she ran out of space on her book shelves. She decided to see how they would sell online, at shops around town and at markets, festivals and fairs. They have been positively received by the local community and she hopes to continue growing her business and expand outside of Utah.
“I make one-of-a-kind hardbound books in the style of Coptic and Ethiopian Bindings that can be used as journals, notebooks, sketchbooks, etc. I also have several templated books for hobbyists including birding logs, hiking logs, camping logs, tarot journals, beer tasting and wine tasting logs, recipe books and more! The exposed spine of the Coptic/Ethiopian Bindings showcase the beautiful and intricate pattern of the sewing and allows the book to lay flat when open.”
“My ultimate goal is to explore and share the world of book arts on a community level, integrating arts with health and wellness along the way.”
